Our Heavenly Father’s plan is a plan of love, growth, and happiness. It answers three great questions: Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where do we go after this life?
We are not here by accident or chance. We are God’s children, and our mortal life is one important part of a much larger eternal journey.
“For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.” — Moses 1:39
Heavenly Father is aware of our needs. He is eager to assist us with them as we strive to do our best and do His will.

02Section 2 of 7 · Before birth
We Lived with God

Before we were born, we lived with Heavenly Father as His spirit children. He knew us, loved us, and wanted us to become more like Him.
We learned of His plan. We would receive bodies, exercise agency, gain experience, and have a Savior who could bring us home.

Earth Life Is a Time to Learn

Birth brings our spirit and physical body together. A veil keeps us from remembering our premortal life, giving us a genuine opportunity to walk by faith.
Here we form families, learn truth, face opposition, repent, serve, and choose whom we will follow. Our choices help shape who we become.

Jesus Christ Is the Center

Because of the Fall, all people experience sin and physical death. We could not overcome either one by ourselves.
Jesus Christ’s Atonement and Resurrection make the plan possible. Because He rose, everyone will be resurrected. As we have faith in Him, repent, receive His ordinances, keep His commandments, and endure faithfully, His grace changes us and makes it possible for us to return to His and Heavenly Father’s presence.

The Spirit World

At death, the body goes to the grave while the spirit enters the spirit world. The righteous experience peace in paradise, while the unrighteous go to what is called, Spirit Prison to learn about God’s Plan for them.
The gospel is preached there. God’s work is fair and merciful, providing every soul a meaningful opportunity to receive Jesus Christ.

Resurrection and Judgment

Through Jesus Christ, every person will be resurrected—body and spirit reunited, never to be separated again.
We then stand before God. His judgment is perfectly just and merciful. Our desires, works, covenants, and willingness to receive Christ reveal the glory we are prepared to enjoy.

RECAP: 1) Following the Chart to the left, We lived in Heaven as Spirit Children of Heavenly Parents and were taught the PLAN of SALVATION, also known as the PLAN of HAPPINESS.
2) We choose to come to earth to gain a mortal / physical body to become more like Them, and have experiences we could gain in no other way.
3) When we pass away, we go to the Spirit World, into Paradise or Spirit Prison, depending on whether we have been commandment and covenant keepers or not.
4) From there we are Resurrected. We will then receive a resurrected Body based on the LAWS of the LORD we lived while living on earth. This can be likened unto a FIRST JUDGEMENT.
5) Then comes the FINAL JUDGEMENT and we are assigned to one of the KINGDOMS of GLORY Father has prepared for his children based on their earthly conduct. The CELESTIAL KINGDOM compared to the SUN, the TERRESTRIAL to the MOON, and TELESTIAL to the STARS.
6) Through Jesus Christ, families can receive Eternal Life and return to God’s presence. The plan invites each one of us to learn and keep His Commandments, receive His Ordinances and Covenants, to become the children we are meant to be.
